- As someone who has never collected EI, or ever plans on doing so, I do not agree that EI should be totally cut out. There are the people who abuse yes, and there should be something done about this. for example, the people who work a few months of the year just to collect their EI. But then there are the workers who may work 10 11 months of the year, for example carpentry workers, who need the money for rent and bills for those 1 2 months. It would be ridiculous to go get a job, be trained, only to quit when they are rehired bu their companies. And also, do you know how much money it costs to train someone for many min wage positions? Like KFC or Mary Browns? It isn't cheap people! I think there needs to be some thought put into this as opposed to, as someone put earlier, a 'blanket solution'.That said, I also feel it is important that our community doesn go from one hasty judgement to another. It is ironic that some people are saying that we should allow the Mormons River to die so that we can save a bunch of forest. In terms of diversity, alowing that river to flow is also critical. Mollusks, invertebrates and fish may not be a #OOPS#y as trees but they play a key role in our ecology.
